August Updates

Hello Everybody!

Since we're not having an August meeting, I've prepared this email blast with important upcoming events. Some of these have been pulled from the recent Delco Dems Newsletter, available for download below.

Precinct-Level Community Organizing

Our next community events will be taking place in September - please stay tuned for updates and reply to this email if you are interested in attending or hosting.

Media Dems September 2025 Monthly Meeting: September 23rd @7PM

The next regularly scheduled monthly meeting will be September 23rd at 7PM in the 2nd floor conference room of Borough Hall.

August 26th Meeting: Media Dems Newsletter Subcommittee

Per our discussion at the July Meeting, we are not having a regular monthly meeting of the Media Dems in August. Instead, the 2nd floor conference room is reserved for the use of our newsletter subcommittee. If you have an article for consideration, or would like to be involved, please contact Jesse Unger at mediadems@gmail.com.

Delco Dems Annual Summer Picnic: Saturday, August 16th @4PM (3:15PM Nature Walk)

Support Justice and Meet Our Supreme Court Justices: Tuesday, September 9th from 6-8PM

One of the most important items on the ballot this year are the three PA State Supreme Court Justices who are up for retention. If you're upset about what's going on at the Federal level, getting the word out about Supreme Court retention is one of the most effective ways you can help protect our freedoms in Pennsylvania. Sign Up Here for a special event being held in St David's, PA (Address available upon RSVP) to meet our Supreme Court Justices David Wecht, Kevin Dougherty, and Christine Donohue.

Delco Dems Fall Gathering at Tyler Arboretum: September 11th

On Thursday, September 11th, the Delco Dems will be hosting our annual Fall Cocktail Gathering. This year we will be joined by special guests Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon and Judge Beck Dubow. This is the last major fundraiser the Delaware County Democratic Committee will be holding between now and election day: the funds we raise from this event will be crucial in preparing for a well supplied, successful election day. If you are able to support us, and join this event, you can purchase your tickets here.

Citizen George Screening: September 24th @7PM

Friends,  please save the date and REGISTER for a night you will never forget.  Providence Friends Meeting is hosting legendary activist George Lakey and the movie about his life, "Citizen George" on September 24th at 7 pm. If you are feeling hopeless about this administration's attack on our democracy and on our rights, this event will give you a real shot in the arm. We will show the movie, have a discussion with George, then have refreshments and some socializing. PLEASE sign up using this link:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/citizen-george-inviting-action-igniting-hopea-filmdiscussion-tickets-1581805275159?aff=oddtdtcreator

Harris Volunteer Codes for Media

The Harris campaign left us with a code in votebuilder that was assigned to people who volunteered for the campaign last year. We will be using it in our recruitment efforts! If you're already on Votebuilder, you can make a list and pull the code "Volunteer: 24 Harris Vol". Or you can ask us to pull the list for you.

GOTV Rally: October 4th, location TBD

Save the date - this one is going to be an event to remember!

A Note from the Chair

No matter what's going on in Washington D.C. or in our changing climate, what you do in your community makes a difference. From getting to know your neighbors, to throwing a block party, to joining a committee or non-profit group, or even as far as running for an elected position, every little bit helps. And our values are so powerful when put into action. Our vision of the world - one where everybody has a right to dignity and a voice in the decision making surrounding their lives, where everyone has enough to eat and a safe place to sleep, where the economy works for everyone, not just the ultra-rich, and justice, freedom, and safety reign together - is so powerful, and so popular, that our opposition has to erode our very rights just to slow down our inevitable momentum. So don't let "the man" get you down. Instead, let's throw block parties and "music festivals", craft, make art, watch plays, console each other, rejoice with one another, and experience as much joy as possible while taking back the power that rightfully belongs not to the ultra rich, but to WE THE PEOPLE. - Dana Marks
